Default getting an a4 had some engine questions

i am looking at either a 98 or 99 a4 and was wondering if the 1.8t or the 2.8 engine was more tunable. i will be tuning the car as much as possible and want to get the most out of it, so i was wondering what you guys thought.

thanks for all the info

Default 1.8T

and if it has over 60K miles make sure the timing belt is replaced - this applies to both engines.

Default 1.8t by far. There is at least one APR stage 3 car in VT, plus a T28 car...

I'm sure you could get a ride in one of the more severely tricked out cars pretty easily.

Default devil's advocate: take all the mod money you'd drop into a 1.8........

and drop it into a supercharger and exhaust for a 2.8

Hmm and it would still be more expensive and slower than the 1.8t

Slower than a Stage3 perhaps.. 0-60 is more gearing related anyway..

Default But getting into a 2.8 is more expensive to start with..

and they feel a lot different on the road. To me a 2.8 is more of a long range fast car, 1.8t is a pocket rocket.
