Default Got my 01 1.8T chipped today!

Just got back from DynoSpot Racing in Mt View, CA...they installed a GIAC chip in my 2001 1.8T.
Just finished 70 mile drive...can't believe how
much better the acceleration is in it now!

Default How much was the bill? And... (more)

Turnaround time? Did you get a spare ECU? So the 2001 1.8T chips are ready? Can you describe the difference vs. stock? I'm thinking of going with GIAC & I spoke to Velocity and they said they can do it but have yet to chip a 2001 1.8T yet... I might be their first... I have 1200 miles and still debating if I should "fullfill my car's potential"....

Cost for chip was $495.00 plus $50 to install. I had an appointment with them, took less than an
hour. I've heard that hp goes from stock 170 to about 205 to 210 and torque from stock 166ftlb to
about 250ftlb. I can't confirm these numbers but it FEELS like one hell of an increase...especially accelerating from stop signs and onto freeway. I've got 2000 miles on my car...glad i did it!

I kept my original chip, but didn't get a seperate ecu...hopefully won't be a problem at service time. Still using stock air filter...so far!
