Had problems with touch-up paint over the weekend. Need help!
Decided to fix some marks on my rear bumper this weekend with the touch-up paint that I ordered from Audi. I started by preping three of the spots that needed work. I then applied the first coat of paint, waited for it to dry and put on a second. After the second coat was fully dry I noticed that the paint I got from Audi was not a very good match. In fact you could say that my bumper looks worse now than it did before I started.
Will it look better once I apply the clear coat, or should I scrap the job and find a better matching paint?
Does anyone know of another paint that is a good match for Silver and might come in a spray can?
If anyone could offer some advice I'd really appreciate it!

Might be nature of the beast; silver is a real PITA to touch up
Had a '76 911 and present '98.5 Avant which were/are silver. I was never able to get a smooth match to the original. The metal flakes in the silver apparently line up in a certain way in the original spraying, which you can't match with a brush touch-up.
A local body shop put on a demonstration of spraying a body panel with a metallic. He was able to get a widely varying color tint and texture just by varying the air pressure and distance from the panel. Painting a silver car and matching the remainder of the body is an art as well as a skill.
