Default HELP! Error code 17884 - Evap leak detection pump, insuffiecnt vacuum?...

I keep getting this M.I.L. error code ever since I chipped my car.

Anyone have any clues as to what this may be?

Thanks.

Broken vacuum line? Did you disturb and vac lines when you took the ECU out?

LDP puts your fuel system under vacuum to determine if the fuel system on the vehicle is leaking fumes to the world. It can be a faulty or improperly closed gas cap or a broken hoose to the LDP. The LDP is hidden by the rear left fender liner on the 2.8, don´t know about other models.

Default The Vac lines are no where near the ECU...

The only ones I'm familiar with, and checked, is the ones coming off the front and back of the manifold. My boost gauge is tapped into the front of the manifold, but there are no leaks coming from here and the gauge works perfectly w/ very good response. All clamps are very tight.

Could it be that the hose I've used is too long (12 feet) and a leak is being falsely detected?

Default check the hoses behind the engine....

I had a light like that (can't remember if it was the same code) and it was a vacuum hose that fell off a small cylinder behind the engine head.

Do an archive search on "Leak Detection Pump". Somebody posted the diagrams some time ago.
