Default HELP! Fuel smell in the passenger compartment

Driving to work this morning, I notice a fuel smell inside the car. At first, I thought that I may have tracked some gas into the car after filling up but I don't smell anything on the carpets. It seems to be coming from the passenger side footwell and appears to get stronger when I'm driving (giving gas). Any ideas? Anyone experience this? Please help. I need to ensure my car is okay for Quattro challenge this weekend.

I also checked the boost gauge to see if it was leaking but I didn't smell anything coming out of there.

Default Just came from another drive.Doesn't seem to be there anymore.Could a loose gas cap be the culprit?

After sniffing around some more, the gas smell appeared to be coming from the rear right part of the car. So I took off the gas cap and checked it out for cracks (I dropped it the prior night). Nothing. Put it back on. The trunk really smelled of gas. Checked the lines for any visible sign of leaking. Nothing. So I just went for another drive and it doesn't seem to be there anymore. Or I could be just high off the fumes. Anyway, could a loose gas cap be the culprit? I know that it can cause a check engine light to come on. I've got the hood, trunk, windows and sunroof open right now. I'll take it out for another spin later. Damn, Esso Premium is good stuff....

Default That's what I'm thinking too.

If the gas cap wasn't on tight, the hot weather would put extreme pressure on the gas tank and easily cause vapours to emit. Pheww....I hope that's all it was. Quattro Challenge, here I come!!!
