Default Bose is better on my new 2001 too
I just got my new 2001 too -- looks the very same as ArchAudi's pic. I used to have a 1999 -- that car had terribly boomy bass. The new 2001 has excellent bass, something has definitely changed for the better.

Default My 2001 is also listed at 210 watts
The sound is EXCELLENT in my opinion. No boomy bass problem, and definitely much better than earlier model year A4s I test drove before getting my 2001. This change isn't new for 2001.5, but rather for 2001 I think.

I just replaced a 2001(Nov) with a 2001.5....Big difference.
