Default Hey i got a quickie!...

I got CEL fault code p1296. Everyone is saying that it is related to the coolant temp sensor. My coolant temp strikes noon about a minute or two after i start driving, and doesnt flux at all. On the other hand...my OIL temp seems to get to ~160-170 after about 10-15 minutes and nothing higher. I noticed it started taking longer and longer for the oil to heat up lately. The oil temp will still be @ 0 for a few minutes after the coolant temp is already @ noon before it starts to creep up sloooowly over the course of the 15 min. Im using 5w30 Royal Purple. I had my t-stat replaced less than 6000 miles ago and the coolant temp is normal so i ruled that out.

You sound right. Replace the sensor and you should be fine. If it does not help, flush the radiator.

Default The cheaper one first... coolant temp... then check for air pockets and clogged radiator and then

oil temp sensor... I think...
