i got new s4 ecodes (xenons) for $400 shipped.
kept my stock bulbs/balasts. insurance paid me $475 for my broken passenger side stock housing (the tab was broke by the body shop). i still have the driver's side housing lying around here somewhere.

how do you like em? what'd you do about the city lights?...
did you ever do any kind of write up on your impressions or anything like that, you could just link to it, and i'll read. I'm looking at changing from halogen to hid, already had a conversion kit for my halogens, but a bulb burnt out. it is a pain trying to find replacement bulbs for those kits, so i am trying to get a setup where if it happens again, i can just throw in some oem bulbs from any car. i also want 1pc, upgrading from 98 reflectors, so xenon ecodes look like logical step for me. thoughts?

MarkP has a write up somewhere. since i had xenons stock it was simply plug and play.
very simple install. its not like i have never taken out my headlights, so it was even easier for me!
as far as differences, well, not really (although i have YET to aim them properly). if i didnt get these for 'free', i doubt i would have gotten them. my stock housings were fine, although these do look cleaner than the DIY clear corners.
i have yet to hook up my city lights. since i had canadian grilles on my s4 bumper, and no fogs on my RS4 bumper, i have an empty switch. i planned on hooking up my city lights to it, but just havent gotten to it yet. i have a few more things that are lying around waiting to be done and i just havent found the time. soon though. i'll have them done soon.

depends on what pics you're talking about...
probably half are the CC's, the other are the e-codes. new rs4 bumper/SL pics are ecodes. i think all the pics with the celebs are stock housings.
you cant tell that the stock housings have been tampered with unless you are within 5 feet of the car.

cool, i'm 99% sure i'm doing the xenon ecodes, just due to my situation...
in the market for ecodes, already have ballasts, just need some D2S bulbs for it. do you know if the wire coming off the ballast to the bulbs can be unplugged from the ballast and replaced? my dillema: i have an HID conversion kit, so the bulbs have a different plug than oem hid. the ballast's harness has been modified to plug into the conversion kit's bulbs. i want to unplug the modified harness, and get a stock oem D2S harness to plug into the ballast to utilize the new bulb going into the oem xenon housing. do you know anyone on the boards with a lot of experience with oem/aftermarket xenon setups?

I don't know about your particular ballasts, but I asked Eric at SPP if I could unplug the cable that goes to the bulb from my ballast, and he said it can't be done without ruining the ballast.
Your mileage may vary. For reference, I have a set of Phillips ballasts.
