All I can say is that we are aware of the problem. Things are in the works, so bear with us.

Question about moderation of OT posts
Why isn't it possible to enforce the longstanding forum rules about off-topic posts? The forums are truly degenerating into adolescent chat rooms, complete with frequent mindless posts such as "XXXXX, are you here?"
I realize that many forum members respond that the OT forum gets a lot less traffic. But clearly that's because it's rarely used. If OT posts were really restricted to the OT forum, it would get much busier and all problems would be solved.
The A4 forum has become almost unuseable. A legitimate posted question drops into inner pages within hours, sometimes minutes, and then for all practical purposes it's gone.
I know users can elect to hide moderated posts. But there's no way the moderators can keep up with the torrent of OT posts, so that doesn't really help.
I think OT posts should, ideally, be uncermoniously moved to the OT forum. If that's not technically possible, then after a warning and an adjustment period, I would suggest deleting them. The chatters will quickly switch to the OT forum after a few days of pitiful whining, and these forums will once again become enjoyable and useful for those who want to share ideas and info on their cars.
Apart from the problem of OT posts, these forums are among the finest on the internet. You have done a fantastic job.

what is the big deal?
does it really bother you that much? This is a community, why does every little thing have to be about cars, and why is it so important that we talk about nothing else here? This is one of the most on-topic of the forums I frequent. And is it just me or is this subject a tad off-topic for this forum anyway...

I'll go there if ScottAw does...
and:
bugbbq and,
Jussnb and,
oh, all the other numbskulls.
Got a point. Makes sense. Near impossible to fight the inertia.
Doesn't hurt to try.

but see, if i say 'hey xxx are you here?' i'm probably asking about somthing
that is ON topic. jeez. they should make a forum for people who want to look straight ahead and do the same thing everyday. you must be a pretty boring person.
