Default Highway RPMs?

I recently bought a 2001 A4 1.8T stick shift and am new to stick. I pretty much have it down and can drive it comfortably but I recently started taking it on the highway and wondered at what RPM (in 5th gear) do I start to lose gas efficiency. If I'm at 75 mph its about 3100 RPM and I feel like that's kinda high but if I'm not losing fuel efficiency then I don't care so much.

Thanks

For maximum mileage, use a very light foot and stay under 1k rpms.

65-70mph zone is where I'm at on the freeway and get great mpg's. I don't think about it or concerned- just drive normally.

Obviously, the faster you go, the less mpg's you get.
If you can avg 55mph, you will get more mpg's than 75mph.

aerodynamics, rpms, load, are factors.

So the correct answer is go as slow as you bear and drive smoothly.
