Default Hmm, just keep an eye on how lean you get at WOT

I bet what you did was get rid of the long term fuel trim, which had probably adjusted to keep it rich at WOT (by asking for less air). Take some VAG logs and monitor the trim. I would guess that it will go back to what it was.

Masking some other problem? Perhaps not enough fuel for the air you can push? Fuel filter clogged. Fuel pressure regulator going bad? Injectors clogged?

Default ok, so what's the whole procedure then...

1. connect ECU.
2. turn the key, but not the engine.
3. wait 5 minutes.
4. turn on the engine.
5. wait 2 minutes.

Is that it?

BTW, that's not needed if you're just switching between different programs on the same ECU, correct?

Default I'm way too impatient for that

Though if this doesn't last, than I will do it again and leave it running for the 2 mins.

Default I'm sure there are other issues

this is not a permanent fix by any means. The car had been misfiring, I'm guessing the plugs are toast. I wouldn't rule out the injectors at this point.

Time will tell, I don't have a VAG tool and I need to do some follow up logs, as well as the other minor details.

Default yup.

2 mins & 2 mins is enough. You'll hear the clicking stop in the engine bay.

So:

1. disconnect & connect ECU.
2. turn the key to ON position (not the engine).
3. wait 2 minutes (don't touch gas pedal).
4. turn on the engine.
5. wait 2 minutes (don't touch gas pedal).

Yes, it is recommended to do your 2-5 steps when changing programs on the IBE.

Myth. Takes about 20 seconds or until the whining from the TB stops.

Default Better yet, disconnect the battery cables and touch them together. Instant hard reset.

Otherwise residual memory remains in the ECU - took 3 days without connection to clear for me.
