Hooking Up An Amplifier To A Non-Bose Head Unit
Anyone know how to hook up an aftermarket amplifier to an Audi Concert (non-bose) factory head unit? I want to install a subwoofer, but not an amplified one. I want a separate amplifier.

I don't want to sound like an idiot, but how would I do that? Last time I hooked up an amp in a car, I had the convenience of pre-amp outputs. How would I get the line for sound from the head unit to the amp. Are there lines in the rear speakers that can be use for that? And if so, which wires do I tap into?

do a search - you can get a $5 pre-amp adapter
The Concert is actually a Blaupunkt radio and they sell a pre-out kit. Crutchfield sells them for $5. A search will yeild a part number. IMHO that is the best bet...

The factory amp for the rear speakers is mounted to the drivers' side rear speaker
You can pick up your low level inputs and remote power lead off of that. Search tech for which wires do what. I'm running my subs like that works great. The only think is that the concert system trims the bass at high volume, a little annoying. good luck
