I figure with quattro and a supped up engine it would be a great contender especially in the tight road coarses. All I see or Skodas, Lancers, and Ford Focus.
Thoughts?

The Quattro was born to rallye, as was the SWB Sport Quattro.
From 1983 Audi dominated rallyeing, both in the US and in Europe. Once the others cought on and started running 4wd rallye cars that is.. But the Quattro evolved into the SWB Sport Quattro and continued being sucessful into the late 80s when Audi turned to road racing..
I don't recall a factory entered 5k rallye car, I am sure there were some privateer cars, I could be wrong on the factory, maybe they did.

Not sure if this is true....but....
I heard that Audi was in rally racing quite a few years ago, but the quattro system was such an advantage that they were no longer allowed.
That doesn't make a whole lot of sense because there are plenty of other AWD systems out there...but who knows?
