Default How do you remove the shift **** on a Tiptronic?

Hey Everyone,
I want to replace my Tiptronic shift ****. Can anyone tell me how to remove it from the shifter?
All I was able to find is that you pull the little push button on the side outwards then pull the entire **** up. I wasn't able to do this when I tried it earlier.Am I just not pulling hard enough? (didn't want to break the thing)
A more detailed set of instructions would be appreciated.
Thank you very much for your help.

James Wu
A4 Club of Vancouver
1998 Black/Onyx 1.8tqa

A4 Club of Vancouver

Push the chrome ring below the **** down as far as it will go till it clears the shift ****. Then pull the button out as far as you can then pull up hard.
