Default I hate to say it, but, I'm seriously considering selling this car for an E36 M3.......

Been eyeing them for a while, and as i get into track days more and more, the A4 is just lacking "something". I'll surely miss the AWD, but man, for one car to do it all, that has the elusive "feel" the Audi is missing, I don't think I can do better for the price. I know these cars aren't exactly fast (I have pulled a few E36's with my K04 car) but, on the road, this car is SO confident and planted, and just responds so much more crisply than the A4.

As much as I love my car, I am SO tempted...:-/

Then again, I could keep the A4 and get an M coupe :-)

Yeah I feel the same way. One of my best friends just got an E46 this last week. Holy crap, he hasn't even broken the engine in and you can still feel the power and how well it sticks to the road. I am saving for an s4 or E46 can't decide which anymore. Leaning towards the E46 now that I have ridden/driven one. With the E46 I also don't have to do any mods except the harnesses for the track and maybe exhaust and chip (If I really got bored). Of course I haven't ever driven a ko4'ed s4. If I could ride/drive one of those I would might change my mind.

Have they resolved the weak bottom ends on the E46 yet?

It was a few well publicized, isolated failures. It's been resolved.

Default keep the a4 and get an mcoupe!

but if you can do that, why not get the m3 and keep the a4? either way, all 3 are great cars. i'm still up in the air on what to do. do i be impractical and get the mcoupe, or keep the a4, and throw a big turbo kit on it? decisions decisions. good luck

Too flabby. 12-15 open track days a year. Scarce aftermarket support compared to BMW.

Default Mostly because a high mile M coupe can be had for under 20K and a nice M3 still pulls 25K+....

If I kept the A4 I'd pick up a high mileage M coupe and toss in a rollbar, harnesses, some race pads, and track it to death.

The M3, however, is more practical and would let me get away with having just 1 car.

Default well if you plan on tracking it that much, having a dedicated track car

is smart. it would be much safer on the track (with the roll cage, really stiff suspension, better brakes, race seats, etc). and if you wreck it, ok, you have to fix your track car. you dont have to write off your daily. thats just my 2 cents, but if you're running fast enough times, i'd get the high mileage mcoupe. if you have to rebuild the motor, ok no big deal. but that engine will run a long time
