Default I need a new water pump got some questions.

I've got some sort of coolant leak and it is looking like I am going to need to replace the water pump. I'm at roughly 87,000 miles. Should I get the timing belt replaced now while they are in there, and if so should I get anything else taken care of while they are at it?

On a 1.8T? Timing belt and tensioner--definitely. Other accessory belts too.

Default Many failures at 60K miles - if you spend any time on this fourm you would know that.

I just did mine at 33K because of the age of the car.

Default I've spent plenty of time on the forums and seen that, but...

there are plenty of people who make it to 90k with no problems. Thing is you just hear more about problems then positive experiences. for example I made it to 87,000 no problem. i guess I'm just going to get it done tho because they already will be in there working on my car.

Default If it breaks, you will need a new head

It happened to my brother's Eagle talon(Turbo AWD) and his car is down, probably till the summer.

Gives you an excuse to go forged internals...
