Default i've never been so happy that the wet braking issue is sporadic than i was on monday...

driving on the highway in moderate rain when the minivan that had just cut me off had to brake quickly. I got on it (just enough that i didn't lock them up, thank god) and stopped about about 3-4 feet off it's bumper (from 65-70mph). The Grand Prix behind me fishtailed a little, but also stopped in time.

If that short delay from the wet braking issue had been there, I would've been in the back seat of the minivan.

...which is why I left foot tap the brake every so often in the rain when traveling long distances.

Default If you had this issue...

tapping the brakes with your left foot would do nothing. You would have to ride the brake to keep the rotor clear of water. On my A4, every 15 seconds the rotors would get soaked.

You remember that trip to NH we took, when I had my A4...raining the entire way, and finally ice. The sections in NYC and CT were white knuckle drives for me...no brakes! By the time we hit NH I was happy...all I had left to deal with was the ice on the roads.

That's one thing I really do not miss about my A4.

Default I really don't seem to have the issue. I think it happened maybe 2 or 3 times in 40k+ miles.

I guess I mean that I will left foot tap the brake when coming to an exit after being on the highway for a bunch of miles, e.g. when I travel the PA Tp and come up on my exit in the rain.

So, it's <15 second until I really *need* the brakes.

Default You still running stock pads/rotors?

I'm hoping ECS slotted rotors and Mintex Red will take care of my issue.

Default My car didn't have the wet braking issue until I switched to Mintex Red Box pads...

I tried to get my car to produce the wet braking issue several times with the stock brakes and no matter how hard it was raining or how deep the puddles were I could never get anything except immediate strong braking action. I wanted to experience this wet braking issue so I could know what to expect in an emergency stop. I tried pretty hard to produce the problem but wasn't ever able to. I switched to Mintex Red Box and ATE Powerdiscs a month or two ago. With all this rain this past week, I noticed the wet braking issue several times. Luckily, none of these times were emergency stops.

Default there is a little part the dealer can install for you

infront of your front wheels, its a small piece of plastic... that combined with new pads/rotors fixed my wet braking problem.. all covered under warranty.

Does the way they installed it keep you from getting the belly pan off easily?
