I'm thinking 17" MM Spiders/Yokohama AVS Sports. (figure around $1200 w/shipping).

Then I'll need to lower it. What's the best option for less than $500?

I would spend them on a good set of suspension before rims

Default Cheap/good wheels, check out 17" Ace Lolas from SPP...$150 ea

+ some inexpensive but good tires like Sumitomos, Kumhos, Dunlop FM901s for a little over $100/ea. (+lugs, hub rings and Audi center caps) and you'll have your new wheel/tire setup for more like $1100.

I don't have lowered suspension myself, but I think you can just do the Neuspeed/Bilstein shock setup pretty cheaply (though not under $500 installed) and keep the stock 'sport' springs, which DJ Nelson has written about enthusiastically. However if you don't have the factory sport package that won't work, at least not so simply/cheaply.
Then again, you might ask yourself...'am I chipped?'

Cactus/Opal, huh? Sounds nice!

I like the Ace Lolas, but I didn't think they were making them anymore.

Default Couldn't find them on their website, so I guess they're gone?

I guess I'll send them an email and find out.
