Keyless entry problem
I have a 2000 1.8T and have been experiencing an intermittent problem with keyless entry. In the 12 months I've had the car, on three separate occasions the remote stops functioning. It usually fixes itself within 24 hours. I know it is the remote and not the receiver on the car because my second remote works when the other one doesn't.
A few weeks ago the problem occurred again, and it has not yet fixed itself, so this time I'm searching for answers. It seems to me that it is not the battery because the problem came on suddenly and was not a gradual loss of range or function.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Intermittent short
Sounds like a loose connection or something. I wouldn't take it apart to find out, the pressure of the casing might be the only thing holding the board together if it's cracked. I'd take it to the dealer.

i don't know buti think it's the battery... take it to ur dealer and check it out, it should be free
btw, the r/c resets itself automaticlly when it fails to "talk" to the car... i'm not sure how that works but that's what the dealer told me
