Maximum speed '96 2.8 12V (problem?)
Hello,
I tried to see what would be the maximum speed and couldn't go faster than 110miles/hour. Not that I often need to drive at higher speed but it doesn't seem normal to me.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Dima.

Not sure why, but you should be able to hit 130, I don't remember if it was my 93 90 csq or the a4, but I could go 130 is needed or was it 125, its beeen since last spring for my latest attmempt. After my wreck, I can no longer see any reason to drive that carelessly. Never know just who might pull out in front of you......

You should hit 128mph
Unless you are running 20 inch wheels or something, with the stock 16" wheel and 205/55 tires, you should easily hit 128 mph (never touched that 130 mark yet). Here, the engine will die - because fuel injectors will cut off and reengage when the speed sensor senses 125mph. There is a way to bypass the speed limiter. However, if you still have the stock H-rated tires, then do not do it, as you could blow them up under that heat and pressure and could be fatal. The A4 should hit 140, 141mph easy of a clear day. And like I said, there is a way to do it on the 12V, but you'll have to pay me to reveal =) ok just kidding. There are ways to fool the ECU and have the check engine light come on - thus disabling the speed limiter. What are those ways - hmmm, ok, that I'll have to keep a secret because I don't want you to start ripping sensors and vacuum lines apart. Speed limit is 70 or below. Be happy.
