I just noticed it today after driving my dads a6 2.8 from an ice cold start. It takes like 7 miles for my car to reach 180 deg or so and the 2.8 warmed up in about 2-3 miles and was at like 200 degrees.

Just something i noticed prob because the 2.8 is a bigger engine but is there any other reasons?

Sorry if that's a dumb question. And also we both run the same oil.

It takes me about 10 miles to get collant and oil up to temp.

i dont like do give very much gas until the needles are at least moving and it seems it takes close to 5 minutes to start warming up. I live in LA so its pretty warm here too. My dad has a 03 A6 2.7t, and his car warms up in less the half the time of mine..

i get hot air after a half mile or so same with the 1.8 and the 2.8 i used to have

It's kind of annoying having to baby it so bad for the beginning of your trip especially when your trip is only a total of like 10 miles. Heh
