Need help diagnosing problem

On cold starts, when I go over bumps it seems the control arms creak and squeak in the back but once I have been driving for several minutes it goes away. Is it possible that the bushings just need to "warm up" along with the car? Or is it just a hint at the problems to come

Same thing happens with my car.

I just changed my shocks and springs this weekend, and I took a look to see if I could find out what was going on with the rear control arms. The only thing that I noticed is that when I removed my rear shock/spring assembly, where the two control arms meet there is some rust.

I'm curious to know if someone has found the cause of this problem as well.

Yep. After driving for about 5 minutes. I'm not sure what to make of it.

I have an 01 with FrontTrack and I get the same noise! I've been thinking it was the lack of independent rear suspension that made it creak, but hearing your description on a quattro, makes me think otherwise.I am curious if it is not the rubber bushings on the rear swaybar? I am going to try and hit it with a shot of silicone spray and see if it helps? Please reply with forum post or e-mail me if you find other solution.

Good point...

It could be the anti-sway bar bushings. Although I installed a Neuspeed bar a couple months ago and greased up the bushings. Let us know what you find after spraying with silicone...
