Hi All,

The dealer in question, has so far, treated me very well. So I would like to remain anonymous.

I brought my new 99.5 1.8tqms in for it's first oil change, and at that time, complained that the intrumnent cluster LENS was scratched up since delivery. The said they ordered the new lens.

Then I bring the car in for it's second oil service, and asked them to install the new lens. When I picked the car up later that day, The service writer said they replaced the entire CLUSTER unit and lens. Everything looked fine, so I did not question it.

Now driving away, I noticed the dash was really creaking. Now, it creaks all the time... Should I even ask why they didn't just change the LENS only as requested.

Anyway, it stinks... Opinions welcome

They probably didnt take it on a road test to check for creaks and forgot to tighten a screw good enough.
Tell them their workmanship could use some help.

they would have to replace the entire unit. The squeaking is likely due to having to remove and replace the unit -- it sounds like the mechanic did not do a good job of putting the new one in.

I had mine replaced when new because the LCD was too bright and unclear. The tech did did the job in my presence, and it took him literally under 10 mins. to change. It took more time reprogramming the old odometer reading into the new unit than changing the unit itself!!

It is not a "sealed" unit, it's just that there are no separate replacement parts.
