I'm taking my car in tommorow for service and have a GIAC chip and there's a problem coming from the engine bay I want the tech to check out. I have a feeling that if they find out I'm chipped that they'll blame it on the chip. If there is anyone in the south bay (san jose, santa clara, fremont, etc...) that would be willing to swap ECU's for a bit I'd really appreciate it. I've got a 99.5 1.8T front trak.

I've heard from some people that it does matter if the chip comes from a tip or 5-speed and front trak or quattro, but i've also heard that all you need to do is clear the fault codes with a VAG if it isnt exactly the same model. I'm not sure about this myself. But if you or anyone you know can help me out tonight I'd really appreciate it. Feel free to give me a call on my cell phone if you can help. Just ask for Lawrence.
