Never worked on a "newer" Audi how hard is it to replace the...
I've done a lot of work on my old 5k before retiring it but I have zero experience with these newer cars. The Audi in question is my 01 A4. The dealership gave a list of worn parts that would need to be replaced and outrageous prices to do so. I know they're at least half full of Sh*t. They said the front drive shaft and boot needed to be replaced. The drive shaft is fine, do they want to replace it cause the boot is torn???
The car does make a little clunk in the front when going over a bump. They want to replace the upper links. What usually wears out on these and can I just replace some bushings? How hard is it to replace the tie rods, the upper links, or the boot? Thanks for the help guys

Replacing the axle may not be a bad idea and is a very easy DIY job
The brushings aren't what have failed, but the ball joint which you cannot replace. PureMS sells an great front control arm kit for $450 that contains everything you need, including TREs.
Go to the tech section and there is a great writeup for all of this in one article.

****e but that's another thread entirely. I just replaced my driver front drive axle with a NEW Empi unit(complete with boots, cv joints, and all) for $ 150.00. Yeah, $ 150.00. Not difficult to do at all. Upper tie-rod outers cost around $ 45.00? Upper links are around $ 85.00 each or so. Get Meyle brand which is a slightly beefier version of the O.E.M. Easy to do all this work if you take your time. I'd replace the whole drive axle rather than messing with the boot/cv joint, as long as you have over 75k miles on your car or so. It's actually less messy to do so. Try PureMs online and talk to Mike....he's my buddy (well, not EXACTLY)
Good luck
