New intake
I usually have the snorkel placed right on top of the cone filter so lots of cold air gets in. I took the snorkel off because you wouldnt be able to see the cone filter with it on. I used to have the HKS filter. This one is a CHEAP ractive one that works pretty well so far. ( i use in on the gti too) Sounds very nice!

I used the HKS intake kit's heatshield, OEM heatshield and my own(silver insulation stuff)
The heatshield is screwed down.. There are some holes for screws in the HKS heatshield so I put the oem heatshield on as well
There is a metal bar on top of the cone(as you can see in the pic) that holds everything in place

I don't have anymore pics. The HKS was ok I guess..
But some people say the HKS filters let ALOT of dirt in. I didn't notice that though.
The HKS is VERY loud. You can hear the air sucking in. Much louder than other intakes i've heard.

That would be even more effective if you cover over the top with insulating material.............
