Default New sound..Oh great...here is a description....

Kinda a fluttering sound like flut.t.t.t..t.t kinda like a baseball card in a bicycle wheel. Doesn't appear to affect performance...it's only a sound. It ONLY happens when i'm accelerating and gets louder/faster as I accelerate faster. If I put the car in neutral and rev the engine I don't hear it (even as the car is moving so it's not related to the wheels). Only when the tranny is engaged do I hear it. Is directly related to engine speed. F..k. I hope it's not my tranny. Don't think it is because my car has never changed the way it shifts. Maybe something related to the turbo as the boost is rising? I've also been getting this wooshing sound when I rev the engine high and let out the clutch fast, Like instead of putting the power to wheels, it's loosing pressure by this wooshing sound. Don't know if these two are related. I hope my car isn't falling apart. Could any of these be related to my timing belt. I'm due for one. Oh, it kinda sounds like the sound is coming from the passenger side of the engine. And it doesn't sound low down in the tranny area but higher up in the engine bay. Sorry for the rambling. Just don't want to hear any bad news.

Thanks

Default Would that explain both sounds? It's a K04 w/probably 70K plus miles on it.

I was thinking something turbo related as i'm having lots of surging/uneven boost issues too. Have been for quite a while now but thought it was just software related. Maybe not.

Default the wooshing... dv possibly not sure the flutter wastegate...

boost issues would be that, plus when your revving at idle the engine barely gets into boost, due to the fact there is no load on the engine, unless you have anti-lag, which you probably/deffinatly dont

Default Wow..just did a search on "bad wastegate"..sounds like what I got. F..K!

At least I saved my K03 and old GIAC chip haha. I'm gonna be selling the car too soon to get a new turbo. I'll just go back to stock if you are right about the WG.
