Notchy feel sometimes in the Shift from 1st to 2nd

I have 2001 A4. Is it normal for the shift from 1st to 2nd to "notchy" sometime. The other shifts 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, 4th to 5th are all smooth. Any feedback would help.
