O2 sensor problem
I have a 97 A4 2.8L quattro. The rack & pinion was 'leaking' and dripping down onto the sensor and my mech thinks this is why it went. I had him replace the 02 sensor a while back, and since that time, I have put less than 100 miles on the car.
The annoying thing is, the check engine light has come on three times in that time period. The first two times I went back and we looked up the code - it was the same sensor. Any ideas about what could be happening? I about someone having a similar problem a while back, but can't find it now...
thanks for the help.
The new O2 sensor may be faulty.
i'm not sure what the difference is between a plain scanner and a VAG. I know that it had a different 'card' or whatever that was put in to scan my car
If the only thing causing the check engine light was a faulty O2 sensor, and that was replaced, without resetting ECU, the check engine light will stay lit until after several clean starts/operations, (you may travel more than 100 miles) it will eventually reset itself.
