Odd sound coming from rear wheels
I don't know if anyone has experienced this before, but we are starting to hear a rubbing sound from the rear wheels when going around a corner. Straight line we don't hear anything but as soon as you turn we hear a rub that is similar to a rotor that is warped, but that you usually hear all the time. Anyone have any suggestions on what I could look for? The car has about 80K and the brakes were done around 50K. Thanks

like silver bullet said, its the bearings. Mine went and you could hear them all the damned time
but its not uncommon to hear them just on turns. Get'em replace. WOuld suck to have one seize on you on the highway or for a wheel to snap off or some other atrocities...

Probably wheel bearings, need to do mine......
When I get back in the fall from the west coast, I'm installing all 4. If your going to DIY the job, you'll need a hub shark or Sir Tool B-90 kit. I purchased the later. Don't worry , wheel bearing replacement is fairly common on Audi's. Our 00 30v is starting to make some of the noise you describe, but it only got 63k on it. Good luck.

I did a search and wheel bearing came up but
I figured I should hear that all the time. OK, well I guess I have a bigger bill to pay than just the timing belt now. Why is is so common for this to happen on Audi's? I have an Acura with nearly 200K on it and no problems with the wheel bearings, are they a totally different design or is there maintenance I should have done on the A4 to extend the life?
