Oil cap leak?? how is that possible?

Oil cap leak?? how is that possible?

I took my 2.8 v30 (89k miles) to my mechanic, to check on where the leaking is coming from.. it has driverside engine oil leak.. i thought it was from valve cover seals. I can see some oil residual under where the oil filter is.. and some minor oil splashed onto the bottom of the hood..

but, my mechanic said that the oil cap was the leaking source.. and the fan blew the oil all over to the driver side... even to the bottom of the hood..

Man oh man.. that is a lot of oil from the oil cap though.. honestly, I don't know if I am 100% convinced.

Anyone has this problem?? and leak this much from the oil cap? should i replace the whole cap or just the gasket? please help..
