Traced an oil leak - need some advice
I think I have traced the oil leak I have been looking for - it is at the front right corner of the engine (passenger side - UK model) about 2-3 inches below the oil filler cap. I have wiped away old residue to eliminate the spiled oil probability when topping up oil.
Drove the car until oil had reached operating temp then checked the area again - slight oil seepage in the same spot - any ideas on what needs replacing to preventthe leak?
The model is a 2.4V6

Oil cap might need to be replaced...
there is a gasket in the oil cap that prevents oil from getting out. When it leaks, the area will look like someone has been sloppy when adding oil.
If there is no oil residue at the base of the cap...then the next likely suspect is a leaking valve cover gasket.
