OIL service light flashing - what does this mean?

Default OIL service light flashing - what does this mean?
It is not the low oil light, In the service window the word "oil" flashes when I start the vehicle then it goes away. Is this just a reminder to change the oil after 3K? I have a 99 A4 btw. I did not get a manuel when I bought it, it is on backorder :-(.

Reminder for oil change, you can reset it yourself
