Ok My car is a 98 2.8QTip 71k miles

For ~2500 i can get the "Emerald Plan" from 1SourceWarranty.com that will cover the car 5 years or 60k mi. (Which will equate to about 3 years in my case), but none the less cover the car till 131k. This is with zero deductable, and they pay the shop directly with their credit card. No out of pocket expenses with a claim.

OK couple of questions - The car doesnt have the timing belt done that I know of, and I know on a 2.8 the water pump is a time bomb that will cease the timing belt. Will this be covered under this warranty? (They claim maintenance according to mfrs specs is required, but Audi claims 90k on a timing belt replacement).

Secondly the control arms that are very costly and seem to plague audi's as they get older. According to the plan they are covered as well.

Basically at this point im at a crossroads of instead of investing ~ 800-900 for timing belt and water pump, I'm considering purchasing this warranty and keeping the car till 130k miles.

If I keep the car till 130k, do you think I will get more than my money's worth (i.e. the cost of the warranty) back in repairs, and essentially know that that will be the addtional cost for me to drive the car until then.

I'm weary of the car becoming a money pit as it gets older and high up in the miles.

The other option is to trade the car now, and get something younger / with less miles. Possibly downgrade to a 1.8t that is newer with less miles. (Yes I know you can mod the hell out of it, but out of the box, the 2.8 is much more car), so put the flamethrowers down.
