Default overheat problem 'seems' solved~

This is to recap on my problem and solutions to my 'overheating' problem, per described in the link below.

This overheating problem was still there after
i replaced the tstat and waterpump. Replacing the expansion tank does not solve the problem either.
Presure test says OK.

In the middle of desperation, i did the folowings:
- Backflush the radiator, using jetspray.
- Chemical flush of the entire coolant system
using prestone radiator flush and superflush
- Rebleed the system properly
- Test the auxilary electric fan connector.
- Replace thermoswitch with Neuspeed's 180
- Replace viscous fan clutch.

It is 70F today in Indiana, and i think the problem 'seems' GONE. I may have to test it on couple more hotter days to be certain.
If i *did not* post anyfurther to this forum regarding this issue, it means the problem is solved.

Hope this info is useful for anyone who
has similar problems.

Thank you people!

Default *ARGH*

So you didn't isolate the problem? You just replaced parts, flushed everything, bled the system all at once? :-( Glad you got it fixed...but odds are one of those things was causing your problem...god (or Kris) only knows *which* one it was??

Default Counterpoint: I think if his problem was fixed, it was a good thing.

I like to replace things "system-wise" when possible. I've gone through replacing one component at a time before and hate having to follow through until the end. He used the shotgun approach but in that specific case (cooling system) I liked the idea. I'm not sure of his mileage but if it's anything above 50k or 60k he just added more insurance/piece of mind.

Agreed...unless it happens again in 30K miles...then he'll wish he isolated the problem the 1st time

Default None of the things mentioned would have fixed this kind of overheating problem except...

the FAN CLUTCH.

remember, he said the car was fine over 40mph, got hot in traffic, till the aux fan kicked in and then it came back down a little.. The only reason I am so adamant about this is I went through hell with my Corrado and cooling fans.. A car moving at 40mph doesn't need the fans at all, below 40 there is not enough air flowing through the radiator, so it relys completely on the fan.

Default hi all, the car is 60K in milage and 7 years old (m)

so i thought doing all replacements are about time anyway.

i am sure KRis hansen is right on the Fan clutch.
in fact, in my mind, the fan clutch + radiator flush are on the top of the list of the possible cause to the overheating.

Default i am sure you are right on the fan clutch. Flushing comes second.

there is also posibility that those 2 factors contributes to the problem.

So, since the car is 7 years old and reaching 60K, i am replcing/doing overkill approach to solve the overheating problem.

Just an idea.
My friend + mechanics told me the old clutch is not behaving as it is suppose to be. So replaced it this morning.

Default One other thing I forgot to mention (or forgot if I did)......

a good idea would be to run medium pressure water(garden hose) through the radiatior from the inside of the engine bay out, to clean bugs/dirt/grime/mud/hondas etc.. out of the fins. It's possible over time for the fins to get clogged to the point where you lose some air flow.

How did you test the Auxilary fan connector? Did you put a voltage on it?
