Pre-Owned "Certified" A4's.
Anyone here that has done this? If so, what are the details? So far, all I know is that they have a 75k warranty. Not sure on years, what is covered, etc. If anyone can fill me in, great!

i did it. just hit 75k and new years eve also.......
It has saved me a couple grand and is definately worth it in my opinion. Of sourse I took it in for every little squeak too. I think its worth it becasue you don't know hwo the first owner treated the car. IF a lot goes wrong, you get it fixed for the 50 buck deductable and you can get rid of the car and if it's really clean, keep it after the warrenty is up.

Just done it!
I just got my 98.5 2.8QMS and the dealer told me it's 5 years (from the date of first purchase)/ 75k miles bumper to bumper. However, there's a $50 deductible on every visit.
You also get what's left of the 3 year free maintainence and road side assistance. (at lease for my car...)

I DID--Warning (the eternal pessimist)
I recommend that you get your own mechanic to
look at the car anyway.
The warranty only works if:
a) u can identify a problem
b) u can convince the dealer it is a problem.
I did not, and once the warranty ran out, I
discovered a few things I did not like

...we did nearly as well w/ a '98 Passat ("VW Certified")... but a caveat [m]
2 yr./24k warranty on nearly everything, which on this '98 means it's covered til it's nearly 5 yrs. old and has 79,000 miles on it. No deductible.
One caveat. I know, from prior experience w/ MB and with our Passat, that "Certified" doesn't necessarily mean not in an accident, or that all recalls have been done. I was a little miffed that our Passat was sold as VW Certified even though the Tie Rod end recall was still open on it (had not been done); the VW dealer will do it for free, of course, but had we checked first we would've had it done before we picked up the car (which, with 55,000 miles is still rock solid). Check with AoA on any car you're thinking of buying or have the dealer give you a printout showing that all open campaigns on the car have been taken care of.
