Default Pros and Cons of not running the underhood insulation....
I took it out to wash the hood and bay, then let it dry in the sun and contemplated not putting it back on.

Default I took mine out and my turbo sits very close to the hood
still no paint damage to either side of the hood.

my 97 1.8T came without any hood insulation. i've had no problems

it's just a noise insulation that you can live w/out

havent had mine in for close to 2 years on my 2.8 and no complaints here

Default some of the B5 A4's did not even come with one...
mine did not have one and I never cared to add one. You don't need it.

Default i believe its not only insulation but also helps in case of under hood fire, to suffocate it........
don't quote me on this but, i've actually removed it from all of my other cars. but that is one of it's purposes.
