Default Pure Motorsport snub versus APR snub

I am having my timing belt done in about a week and it occurred to me that it might be a good idea to have them throw a snub mount in while they have the car apart. It seems like the APR mount is very popular, but it costs about $60 shipped. The PMS mount costs about $30 shipped. Is APR's snub twice as effective or what? From everything I've read the APR snub could require significant grinding to make it fit, while PMS claims that there is no grinding needed for theirs. I don't know if that degrades the effectiveness of the PMS mount though.

I'd appreciate any input.

i think you're paying for the research that went into figuring out that one size does NOT fit all

Default but even the proper size one they give you often requires trimming/sanding/grinding

so obviously that doesn't apply to APR either... some ppl have no issues while others do. =o\

Default Or you can go with the Greedspeed/Neuspeed mount...

for a fraction of the cost.. IIRC it is approximately $13.00.

no issues w/ my blue APR snub for my 99.5... no trimming necessary, just some grease to slide it on

Having to grind the shroud is a GOOD thing. 5 minutes of work to ensure a perfect fit.

Default i understand, but ...

the "one size fits all" mounts are necessarily going to be smaller than it should be (to ensure that it fits in ALL snub brackets), which means it's not going to limit any engine movement UNTIL that excess space is taken up. defeats the point of a snub mount IMO.

i was lucky because my 99.5 blue fit was perfect. but i was more than willing to trim it a bit to make sure there was a good fit between the mount and the bracket
