I have some pretty new tires in the front about three months old. I had a really bad alignment and it chewed up my summer rear tires so bad they are down to the metal.should i replace all four tires or will i be ok with just replacing the rears. The fronts have normal wear for a 3 month old tire. Question is this: how much tread difference is ok? will it be bad for the diffs and such. I have heard that two much of a difference can be bad for our cars? I have since had it realigned and now am on my winter wheels and tires. thanks

3 months? Don't worry about it - just buy 2. Tires are supposed to be within 2-3% of each other.

With more tread in front, they will even out compared to rears eventually.
