Default Question for VagCom or VWTool users....

Do you guys seem to have a lot of trouble logging into the, "Central Locking" group? I've had two Audi A4's now...and have worked on several A4's and S4's and every time someone wants me to re-code their locks it's a big fiasco cause the damn thing won't stay logged in long enough to re-code the module cause it says communication with controller lost or something like that...it's really weird.

All the other modules seem to be fine...but the locking one seems to be a real curse to log into. Maybe Ross changed the design of the level shifters inside of the VagCom cable? Does the central locking module use a higher bitrate? Everything comes through the ECU I assume...so you'd think you could log into everything just the same...but I can't.

I just got my 2001 A4 1.8TQMSXP a couple of days ago...the double click unlock is driving me nuts...but I can't seem to change it...does 16232 still work on the 2001?

Regards,

James R.

Default OT: No answer, but...

...it'll be fun to watch your .sig grow along the way, perhaps even surpassing your old one, which was quite impressive! :-)

Default I think I may have an answer...

I had issues like you with getting into ANY block or reprograming. Then Clark told me to make sure that all power-saving features on my laptop were off (sleep, screensaver, idle, etc). For some reason this fixed all of my problems... the computer never disconnects.

HTH... Did you get silver again??<p>Dan

Default Hehe thanks...actually lemme give you my new sig...inside

2001 A4 1.8TQMSXP (Oettinger Pedals, European Xenon Housings and RS4 Grille...many more to come

It's a good start considering I've only had the car for 2~3 days...I'm so excited the Quattro feels very solid I think this will be a much better platform for more extreme mods <p>

Default Dan, Thanks...I'll give it a try...yes I'm a total poon...I got Silver again...it's too easy to take

care off...my car looked like it was practically new when I sold it.

Actually a kid in NY bought it...so maybe you'll see it around...he had it trucked out there ($1600 ouch) bought sight unseen from my web page...though we did agree to have one of those Audi Pre-Sale inspections done to ensure everything on the car was safe / functional.

Regards,

James R.

Default Also...

Shut down anything running in the background like virus scanners, etc. I had trouble with some of the "controllers" using theVAG-COM tool until Ross pointed out I might be eating up CPU cycles with things like Norton anti-virus.<p>2001 A4 1.8TQMS

Default Are you using a Compaq notebook?

If so, they are knowing to have communication problems with the Audi systems. John Grable (VWtool) tweaked my software to fuction with my Compaq Presario before he passed away(big loss to the world in my book, great guy/progamer)!
