Default questions

first, my battery meter says that it's around 14V, and i thought it's supposed to be at 12V, what does it mean if it's a little bit higher? next, my friend tried to get me to do a burner, and said that you just floor it and take your foot off the clutch. after i did this, there was this burning smell under the hood. i know this is bad, but what does it mean? is it just the clutch because i was revving to high? what do i need to do about it?

Default Possible answers...

If i'm not mistaken, when a car is running, it does in fact pump out 14v, because it needs to run enough juice through the system to run the car, and charge the battery as well... If i'm mistaken, please someone correct me.

Also, that funny burning smell was probably your clutch... mixed with your tires. It happens, don't worry too much about it. I've had the same sorta smell riding the clutch trying to get the car up on ramps... as long as you don't do it too often, you won't greatly affect the life of your clutch.

hope this is helpful
