Re-programming control module (keyless entry)
A few questions:
1. I want Window control (close sunroof), Safety central locking, Horn and light flash on arming, and automatic door lock/unlock. I have a BOSE system, but the FAQ mentions a "Delta" system. Is this the same thing?? So the "code" should be 12268?
2. Is reprogramming something that the dealers aren’t supposed to do and are not trained on??? In other words, is it a sort of "hack" that someone found out???
Thanks guys………
The control module recoding isn't a hack at all although it doesn't surprise me that your service writer wasn't familiar with it...mine wasn't either. My dealer initially wanted to charge me one hour labor to switch codes...I wouldn't pay. At a later date they agreed to do it for 1/2 hour labor (roughly $30) and I agreed. Recently there was a TSB issued to the dealers which stated that one recoding (I think of just the windows down w/remote) was covered under warranty, any other codes would have a labor charge.
It really seems to vary from dealer to dealer. Some will do it for no charge (they should, it only takes a few minutes) while others will charge an hours labor for it. I recall reading some posts about dealers claiming it would harm the car and/or void the warranty. Utter BS.
