A4 Todd

Hey guys,

Going to detail an A4 that's suffered a bit of neglect over the last year or so. What would you reccommend for cleaning before applying numerous coats of Zaino?

Was planning on clay bar, but I'm thinking of purchasing an orbital buffer and going that route to deep clean..

Any thoughts?

The orbital polisher (porter cable 7424) is a worthwhile investment. Definitely do the claybar first (well, wash the car first, but you know what I mean), then follow with Menzerna polishes from www.properautocare.com (intensive polish if the paint is heavily swirled, final polish only if it's lightly swirled). These polishes are mild abrasives that will polish down the clearcoat to eliminate the swirl marks. After you're done cleaning and prepping the paint, then you can start with the Zaino process.

if you have a lot of oxidation you might want to use a very mild rubbing compound also.
