Default On recycling control arms...

I had Koni CO installed and replaced 8-control arms last week (cost $570 including alignment, I will get another alignment in 4-6 weeks).

The installer was very knowledgable about suspensions, and we talked about CA bushing wearing out on A4s. He said he could press new bushings into my old CAs, but cautioned me that the ball joints will only last for ~100k miles.

He even showed me a reference book where the Audi CA bushing was clearly marked as a separate part (~$53per, but he said that that just because the part # exists, doesn't mean Audi will let me buy them).

When my CAs start acting up again, I might try my luck with Clairparts to get those bushings, and repress my old CAs.

Default So, you had the inner bushings go bad??

Usually in salt country, its the ball joints that go bad early and loudly..

Yes and no. One of the ball joints went bad, and one of the bushing went bad.
