Default Remus Report

I had a Remus exhaust installed(just the exhaust not a cat back system) on my 99.5 2.8 QM. I'm quite happy to report that it diminished the dead zone that I experienced btwn 4500-5500 RPMs significantly. It did not eliminate it but softened it enough to say it was worth buying. I think it was Reggie who said it makes you want to drive with your windows open; he's right. It produces a nice throaty sound thats not obnoxiously loud and doesn't sound like the "coffee can" exhausts I've heard on some rice burners around here. Anyway, If asked, I'd recommend it.

Default Can't really go by what I paid......

I was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time. While perusing the Classifieds on our beloved AudiWorld website, I put an offer in on a slightly damage but never used Remus exhaust listed as $199.00 obo. I offered $250 (plus shipping) and The guy accepted. And what a nice guy he was too. After accepting my offer he was given higher offers yet honored my price. That's an honorable man in my book. Anyway, I installed it myself by simply cutting the existing exhaust out and slipping this one over the pipe and clamping it. It took 20 minute tops.

Doesn't it need to be welded on? Just curious

Default I'm no Exhaust expert but...

It camr with a muffler clamp and was quite a tight fit onto the existing down pipe that it didn't appear to be necessary. I did notice a little dripping of condensation at the joint so I think I'll seal it somehow. My car is leased so I'm planning on re-welding the stock muffler on in 3 yrs at lease end. If I am wrong about not welding, please let me know.

Just wondering because if there is a leak, air will leave through the joint instead of the muffler..
