Default S4 Avant / Volvo T5 Wagon.....

Dad wants a new car, I am leaning towards Avant of course but T5 seems bigger (we have one full grown German Sherpard)

any "objective" response?

test drove the Avant already, he likes it, I love it. haven't try the T5 yet.

Thanks

Default hmmm...the avant comes with a partition divider

not completely sure, but i've heard you can have a divider that can divide the contents in the trunk from the passengers. it can also be used when the rear seats are folded, giving a lot more cargo space.

did i mention the potential of over 300 horsepower with a chip?

the volvo t5 is still a nice car...

Default the big difference is size...

the volvo T5 (I assume you mean the v70 (or is is v60?) and not the v40) is a bigger car, no doubt. But the dog should be ok in the avant, just not with huge amounts of gear. The s4 avant does come with a doggy net for the tailgate area/passenger area.

at the same time, the s4 will out perform the T5 easy, so take of it what you will. I think the s4 is prettier, nimbler, and should be big enough (but it is tight for 4 people, a dog, and gear...)

I keep my greyhound in the back with the seat up. He's taller than a shepard but not wider.

Default Chard is right...the divider deal is very very cool

I am not a Volvo fan...so my response would be biased.

Default My beagle loves the avant

I looked at both, my deciding factor is that you cannot get the storng motor in the wagon and a stick. No slushboxes for me.

I hate to say it but from what I have heard, build quality in Volvos has gone way down since Ford bought them.

But other than that, a very nice vehicle.

Default Dogs fit comfortably in Avant ... no problems mon! ----------->

Two good size labs (yellow = 90 lbs, black = 60 lbs) and the back swallows 'em with plenty of space for comfortable travel, but enough restriction to be safe (like a kennel). Travel kennels for medium to large dogs would never fit with the rear seat up though.
