Default Seriously considering moving from a 96 2.8 to a 97 1.8t...

Im just curious though, how does the the leatherette in the 1.8 compare to the real leather in the 2.8? I have black leather on a black car and i think it looks really classy, plus i like dark interiors. The car that im considering has a silver (offwhite, cream, people seem to call it different things) interior and i just want to make sure that it is similar quality. If anyone has any pics of that color, or any positives/negatives with the leatherette i would appreciate it.

Default From the cars I've seen I think the leatherette holds up better...

You don't get as many creases or wrinkles in the leatherette. In fact my car is almost 2 years old and the seats still look brand new.

Default it doesn't wrinkle, crease, or crack, and it looks cleaner.

though the comfort isn't the same.

Default I think the real leather has a better feel to it.

If you condition the real leather on a schedule, it should look and feel new for a very long time.

Default this is probably digging myself deep into a hole...

but if i buy the car and then have both while the deal goes through on my car...could i switch the seats, front and back? or would that just be a pain in the *** for a not so great outcome... black seats with a silver interior?

Default My leatherette cracked, but because of my dumb ***... literally

In the dead of winter, when I'd go outside to warm it up (yes, I know "it's better to warm it up by driving it", but screw that, it'll take 10 miles to warm up when it's 25F outside). I'd sit my *** right on the edge of the seat to press the clutch down, instead of sitting in the seat completely. I think that's what did it. I have to get a vinyl repair kit once the superglue wears down.
