Serpentine belt replacement help

Serpentine belt replacement help
Hi. After getting stung by a $2,800 estimate to do a few basic things at the dealer, I decided to do some work in-house.
I just searched the forums for instructions on how to replace the serp belt, but the only thing that showed up was the timing belt replacement for A4 1.8 or A6 2.8. Which of these most closely replicates the job just for serp belt replacemnt on V6 A4?
Also, what's a good site for replacement Audi parts (belts, brakes, etc)?
Thanks in advance

Re: Serpentine belt replacement help
The job for the A6 2.8 is basically like the one for the V6 A4. There was a post a couple of days ago on for timing belt replacement on the 12V. I dunno if you have a 12valve or 30 valve.
A good site for parts is alloemaudiparts.com
Good luck

Re: Serpentine belt replacement help
It is a v6 2.8 Quattro, so I'm assuming that it's a 30v, as I don't see any options for a Quattro w/ 12v engines.
Thanks, I'll do some more digging. I used to tinker with my cars before they got computerized, so when I looked under the hood of the A4 it was a bit daunting. But after stumbling on this site, I've got the urge to get the tools out again. (Not to mention, save a grand or two)

if you need help w/ the 2.8 30V I can take a picture of exactly what you need to do to get the belt
off, it is VERY simple. email me and I can walk you through it. if you do more complicated stuff I started a write up for the timing belt and stuff that you can search for.

Re: HOLY **** $2800????
$2800 was for the whole job, with many of it likely unnecessary. The dealer estimated $1,400 to change the timing belt, serp belt, roller and everything that comes with it. But at 40K miles, I doubt that timing belt is the issue.
Whta bugged me the most is that the car recntly went off the warranty, and in my last covered check up, I asked them to check everything out. It got a very clean bill at that time. Surprise...

I jsut had mine done at a local shop - they did not have to remove the front of the car like you do
for the 1.8T. at least that is what they said.
I had some driving lights installed on some homemade brackets and gave them the details on how to remove. Told me they did not need to do it as the front does not need to come off on the 2.8.
