Default Some bitch rear-ended me this weekend . . .

There is now a gash in two places on my bumper from where her license plate left an imprint. Very nice. I was just sitting on the corner of Rockville Pike and West Montgomery Ave [for the MD folks] waiting for traffic to clear and she slammed right into me. "Oh, I just wasn't paying attention." No ****.

My question is; could there be more damage to my bumper than is evident from the outside? I am taking it to a State Farm shop on Thursday for an estimate [her insurance co.]. I was just wondering if anyone had a heads up on the whether the bumper gets jammed and if not replaced will have less absorbtion for a future impact?

Default I hear ya dawg. Rockville Pike is some of the crappiest traffic out there. So many morons too.But...

Take this as an opportunity. If they give you the money to replace your rear bumper you could maybe use it to get an aftermarket rear bumper, yeah!!
BTW, Where in maryland are you from? I lived in Bethesda most of my life. Now I'm in Beantown

Default SAME thing happened to me this weekend ! And I have all the info u need !

Ok ... well he rear, rear ended me .. meanignhe reversed into me ... the damage is not THAT bad ... just a crease int he bumper. Now .. you will need to replace the bumper from what I understand in your case ... I am replacing mine.
It should cost u approximately $394.20 for the actual bumper and then $200 to paint it and maybe installation will be included but if not then add $67
total would be $594.20 without installation.
Ask your dealer if they can give u a discount on the bumper, i got mine for $330.00
Since the damage was under $500 the cops did not file a report and I have to settle it with the guy that hit me directly. Luckily he is a nice guy and is paying up.
Now if the insurance company is paying it .. then he has to pay a $500 deductable anyways ... so it does not matter if u get a better price ont he bumper.
Try and get the actual OEM bumper. Also try not to let them FIX the problem ... they will probably say they can fix it .. heat up the bumper with a heat gun and flatten it out and paint it ... nonsense .. in the long run if someone barely leans on it, it will crack.
if u need more help feel free to email or post again.
Hope all goes well for u
goodluck

Default Get it to your own body shop!

Don't let their shop decide what's wrong and try to lowball you. Get it to a reputable shop that will use only OEM parts & materials and will do it to a high standard. It's possible that hidden damage can result so get someone who works for you, not the guy's insurance company, to appraise it, too.
