Default how much is the price difference, tho? the width isn't much wider:

Tire Size Product Code Approved Rim Width Range (inch) Tire Weight (lbs.) Tread Depth (1?32") Tread Width (inch) Inflated Dimension Static Loaded Radius (inch) Max. Load (lbs.) Max. Pressure (PSI) Revs Per Mile

225/45ZR17 94W RD 168170 7.0-7.5-8.5 24 6 8.7 25.0 9.1 11.6 1477 50 832
235/40ZR17 90W 156650 8.0-8.5-9.5 24 6 9.4 24.6 9.6 11.5 1323 51 846
245/40ZR17 91W 168130 8.0-8.5-9.5 25 6 9.4 24.7 9.8 11.5 1356 51 842
255/40ZR17 94 168140 8.5-9.0-10.0 26 6 10.2 25.1 10.4 11.7 1477 50 827

The 255s would be a step up, but 245s aren't going to gain for the money, imo, over 235s.

fwiw, I have 235/40 RA1s on my 17x8 OZ SLs. and currently on the street with 225/45 RT615 on 17x7.5 OEM RS4 Types.

http://marktg.toyotires.com/file/30029.pdf</a
